White House to ask Congress to trim $9 billion from budget, including cuts to USAID and PBS
The full rescission package is expected to be formally presented to Congress when it returns from its Easter recess on April 28.
The White House is expected to ask Congress to cut at least $9 billion in federal funding from the upcoming budget, which includes cuts to funding for the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), and other controversial programming.
A White House official told The Hill that the cuts would include funding for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, which oversees National Public Radio (NPR) and PBS, and USAID because aspects of funding for both organizations go to things that do not align with the Trump administration.
The rescission package is expected to be formally presented to Congress when it returns from its Easter recess on April 28.
