Founder, former lead singer of rock band Smash Mouth has died
Steve Harwell's cause of death has yet to be made public
The found lead singer of the rock band Smash Mouth, Steve Harwell, died Monday, according to his manager.
Harwell was 56.
The cause of death has yet to be made public, but Harwell had been receiving hospice care over the weekend, according to CNN.
He died at his home in Boise, Idaho, with family and friends by his side, Smash Mouth manager Robert Hayes said.
“Steve Harwell was a true American Original," Hayes told the cable news network. "Steve should be remembered for his unwavering focus and impassioned determination to reach the heights of pop stardom."
Harwell was a founding member in 1994 and longtime lead singer of the band, best known for its chart-topping singles “All Star” and its remake of the song “I’m a Believer.”
The band was nominated for a Grammy for Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group for “All Star,” CNN also reports.
