President Donald Trump has reversed an administration directive to vaccinate top government officials against COVID-19, with shots designated first for front-line health workers and people in nursing homes and long-term care facilities.

Trump made the announcement Sunday, hours after his administration said senior U.S. officials, including some White House aides who work closely with Trump and Vice President Mike Pence, would be offered vaccines as soon as this week, under federal government plans, according to the Associated Press.

The announcement came one day before the first vaccines were made available. On Monday, doctors, nurses and other received the shot, developed by Pfizer and BioNTech, after the Food and Drug Administration of Friday approve emergency use of the drug for those 16 and older.
