Christie allies form super PAC ahead of likely 2024 campaign: report
Christie's latest presidential bid is reportedly expected to focus on drawing a contrast between himself and Trump.
Allies of former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie have reportedly formed a super PAC for him to join the 2024 Republican presidential primary, with him likely to kick off his campaign in two weeks.
The PAC, Tell It Like It Is, still has to be registered with the Federal Election Commission, but it is being led by Brian Jones, who advised Sen. John McCain and Sen. Mitt Romney's presidential bids in 2008 and 2012, respectively, sources familiar with the matter told The New York Times, which reported the effort Tuesday.
The phrase, "Tell it like it is," was Christie's campaign slogan during his failed 2016 presidential bid.
Rumors that Christie would launch a new bid for the White House started circulating last month. While the New Jersey Republican had supported former President Donald Trump in 2016, Christie began criticizing Trump over his claims that the 2020 election was stolen.
Christie's latest presidential bid is reportedly expected to focus on drawing a contrast between himself and Trump.
