Competitive Maryland Senate Democratic primary taking place Tuesday, winner faces Hogan
Democrats are fighting to hold the open Senate seat but Hogan's poll numbers are strong, making the race competitive
The winner of Maryland's tight Democratic U.S. Senate primary race Tuesday is expected to face former Republican Gov. Larry Hogan for the open seat created by Democratic Sen. Ben Cardin's retirement.
Rep. David Trone, D-Md., and Prince George's County Executive Angela Alsobrooks are the top Democratic candidates competing for the seat on Tuesday.
Hogan entered the race in February and his poll numbers have remained strong since that time.
A victory for Hogan could hand Senate control to Republicans in November.
