Haley projected to win Vermont GOP primary: AP
Though polls closed at 7 p.m. EST, results were slow to trickle in and she was locked in a close race with former President Donald Trump for much of the evening.
Former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley notched a second GOP primary win on Super Tuesday and is projected to win Vermont.
Though polls closed at 7 p.m. EST, results were slow to trickle in and she was locked in a close race with former President Donald Trump for much of the evening.
The Associated Press ultimately called the race for Haley, however, who earned 49.6% of the vote as of 10:38 p.m. Trump trailed with 46.0%.
Over the weekend, she managed to win the D.C. Republican primary, her first victory in the race.
Thus far, the Vermont race appears likely to be her sole victory on Super Tuesday as Trump has claimed victory in every other contest already called by wide margins.
Vermont is a heavily Democratic state and has not backed a Republican for president since 1988, when it broke for George H.W. Bush.
