JD Vance predicts the 2024 presidential election in Georgia will be better than 2020
Vance said the southern state has made "good progress" in fixing the weaknesses in Georgia's electoral system, which will help the state have a "better election" this November.
Ohio Sen. JD Vance, who is running for vice president, predicted on Thursday that the 2024 presidential election in Georgia will be "better" than the 2020 election.
Georgia was one of the most controversial states in 2020 when it came to election integrity and security. Former President Donald Trump has claimed there was election fraud in Georgia, which led to President Joe Biden winning the state.
Vance said the southern state has made "good progress" in fixing the weaknesses in Georgia's electoral system, including mandating that voters will need to show ID in order to vote, which will help the state have a "better election" this November.
"I think Georgia has actually made some good progress," Vance told the local news outlet WALB. "Of course, you can always do more, but I do think that Georgia is going to have a much better election frankly in 2024 than it did in 2020. Some of the reforms that have been put in place are going to help that effort ... We want every vote to count, but only if it’s a legal vote."
The WALB interview was conducted by anchor Madison Foglio, who previously worked for Just The News.
Vance also clarified his position on a federal ban on abortion, asserting that neither he nor Trump support a federal ban on the procedure.
"Donald Trump’s been very clear that he thinks the way to solve this culture war that we’ve had on the abortion topic is to let the States and let the voters decide," Vance said.
Georgia is considered a battleground state this November. The state leans more conservative in its rural counties, but the cities lean more liberal.
