The former secretary of state's comments come amid mounting scrutiny of both Biden's age and questions of his electability against former President Donald Trump.

Former first lady Hillary Clinton on Thursday backed President Joe Biden's 2024 reelection bid, acknowledging that his age is a valid concern but contending that his administration had been successful thus far.

"When I look at what’s been accomplished with the team that was put together, I am very impressed ... And I'm all in to reelect people who got things done. That's what this country needs," Clinton said on MSNBC's "Morning Joe."

"I am supporting President Biden and Vice President Harris because of what they've gotten accomplished. I’m kind of old-fashioned that way. I like to see people, as I said, tackle big problems, bring people together and try to forge solutions," she added.

"The question is legitimate, but the conclusion that people draw is, I think, off base," she said of concerns over Biden's age.

The former secretary of state's comments come amid mounting scrutiny of both Biden's age and questions of his electability against former President Donald Trump. The Republican currently leads Biden by 0.4% in the RealClearPolitics polling average.

Clinton's support further comes amid speculation that the Democrats may ditch Biden in favor of a more electable, younger candidate. California Gov. Gavin Newsom has often topped the list of replacements, though he has eschewed a 2024 White House bid and asserted that Harris remains the natural choice to replace Biden in the event of such a development.
