Top pollster Rasmussen says Kamala Harris 'missed a great opportunity' with Walz as VP pick
Rasmussen said that that there were "internal problems" regarding Josh Shapiro within the Democratic Party.
Prominent pollster Scott Rasmussen says that presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris missed an opportunity by picking Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz as her running mate.
"I think Kamala Harris missed a great opportunity," Rasmussen said on the Tuesday edition of the "Just the News, No Noise" TV show. "Had she picked Josh Shapiro, she could have put in play the most important swing state of all right now: Pennsylvania."
Prior to the announcement, speculation abounded that Shapiro would fill the slot. He currently serves as the Democratic governor of Pennsylvania, a crucial swing state.
Republicans such as Lee Zeldin speculated Shapiro was not selected for the role because he is Jewish.
Rasmussen said that there were "internal problems" regarding Shapiro within the Democratic Party and overall Republicans seem happy about this missed opportunity.
He said that the way Harris and Walz will win is if Trump doesn't focus on issues in the upcoming election.
"I think the winning formula for them is for Donald Trump to ignore the issues [and] to keep attacking Vice President Harris...talking about her race and ethnicity [and] talking about sidebar issues," Rasmussen said.
