FTC launches ‘Operation Stop Scam Calls’ to combat illegal telemarketing

The Federal Trade Commission announced a new nationwide initiative Tuesday called “Operation Stop Scam Calls” as part of the agency’s latest effort to crack down on illegal telemarketing. The initiative involves a partnership with more than 100 federal and state law enforcement partners to target lead generators who sell consumers’ phone numbers and companies that provide voice for illegal robocalls.
