Five Japan Coast Guard members die after plane collides with passenger jet at Tokyo airport
Videos posted online show the passenger jet engulfed in flames, but the airline says all passengers and crew evacuated safely.
Five Japan Coast Guard members died Tuesday and another was severely injured after a Japan Airlines plane collided with the Coast Guard aircraft at Haneda Airport in Tokyo, according to officials.
The Japan Airlines plane was traveling from New Chitose Airport on the northern Japanese island of Hokkaido to Tokyo when it collided with a Coast Guard plane after landing, the airline said, according to state-run broadcaster NHK.
All 379 passengers and crew evacuated the Japan Airlines plane safely, an airline official said.

The Japan Coast Guard aircraft had six crew members who were preparing to travel to Niigata to assist in earthquake relief efforts, an official with the organization said. The pilot is severely injured but is the only survivor from the Coast Guard plane.
