Japan increases cash offer to residents to leave over-populated Tokyo
The effort reportedly began in 2019 and has already result in the departure of at least 2,300 people.
Japan is reportedly increasing the sum its offering families to move out of Tokyo to help with over-population concerns.
The government is offering as much as 1 million yen (roughly $7,631) per child to family that leave Tokyo, up from roughly $2,289, according to the Daily Wire.
The effort reportedly began in 2019 and has already result in the departure of at least 2,300 people.
The offer is also being extended to resident who commute to Tokyo from nearby regions.
Those who accept the offer must live in one of the participating regions for at least five years and have a job, and those who break the agreement will be asked to return the money, the Daily Wire also reports.
