CIA analyst predicts Iranian terrorist attack on Israel after Hamas leader's death
"I think there definitely will be retaliation. We just don't know when or where," Fred Fleitz said.
Former Chief of Staff of the National Security Council and CIA analyst Fred Fleitz predicted Wednesday that Iran would retaliate against Israel following the death of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh.
"My guess is that it will be a terrorist attack because the Iranians don't think their missiles are going to get through," Fleitz said on the "John Solomon Reports" podcast. "And it may not be in Israel. It may be an Israeli diplomatic compound on another continent."
Haniyeh was killed last week in Iran as part of an alleged Israeli strike, according to the Associated Press. He was recently replaced by Yahya Sinwar.
Fleitz predicted retaliation from Iran.
"Look, Israel destroyed the consulate in Damascus on April 1 and Iran retaliated with missiles on April 13," he said. "This Hamas leader was killed in Tehran on the 31st of July. Today is August 7, so that much time hasn't elapsed yet."
Fleitz went on to criticize some media reports that claimed Iran likely wouldn't retaliate due to the Biden administration's diplomacy.
"I think there definitely will be retaliation. We just don't know when or where," he said.
