IRGC Quds Force officer killed in Tehran
President Joe Biden reportedly wants to remove the IRGC from the designated terrorist organization list
An Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps' Quds Force officer who allegedly planned attacks on Israelis and Jews across the world was shot five times in his car in front of his home by two motorcyclists on Sunday afternoon.
Iran's state-run Islamic Republic News Agency reported that IRGC Col. Hassan Sayad Khodayari's "martyrdom" was connected to "elements linked to the Global Arrogance," which refers to the United States and Israel.
Pushing the idea that Israel is behind the colonel's death, the outlet stated that "members of a gang of hooligans linked to the intelligence agency of the Zionist regime have been arrested in Iran," in a seemingly unrelated incident.
The Palestinian Mujahideen Movement also claimed the assassination was a "terrorist operation related to the Zionist Mossad," as translated.
Khodayari was reportedly connected to numerous plots targeting Jews and Israelis around the world, The Times of Israel reported.
The colonial was allegedly behind an attempt to lure Israeli academics and former defense officials abroad to possibly kidnap them. He also reportedly was behind a plan to kill five Israelis in Cyprus.
President Joe Biden reportedly wants to remove the IRGC from the designated terrorist organization list in order to revive the Iran nuclear deal despite protests from his own party.
