The United Arab Emirates is disputing a statement from the office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that he secretly visited amid the war in Iran.

According to the UAE's official WAM news outlet, the visit never happened.

The news agency said that UAE's relations with Israel are conducted in public "within the framework of the well-known and officially declared Abraham Accords, and are not based on non-transparent or unofficial arrangements," the Associated Press reported

According to the prime minister's office statement Wednesday, Netanyahu met with UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and the meeting resulted in "a historic breakthrough" in relations between the two countries. The UAE had normalized relations with Israel in 2020.

The WAM report also denied that the UAE received an Israeli military delegation.
