The wife of Kentucky GOP Rep. Andy Barr died unexpectedly Tuesday night.
Eleanor Carol Leavell Barr, married to the congressman for 10 years, died at the family’s home in Lexington for unspecified reasons, according to the Lexington Herald-Leader. She was 39.
“Congressman Andy Barr’s wife Carol passed away suddenly tonight at the family home in Lexington,” Barr’s office said in a statement to the news media. “During this tragic time, we respectfully ask for privacy for Congressman Barr and his family to grieve Mrs. Barr being called home to heaven.”
Barr was the director of the Henry Clay Institute for Statesmanship in Lexington. Andy Barr has served in Congress since 2013.
