The Treasury Department hit Iran with more sanctions Wednesday, this time targeting 30 individuals, entities and vessels enabling illicit Iranian petroleum sales and its production of ballistic missiles and advanced conventional weapons (ACW).

The sanctions are part of the Trump administration's maximum pressure campaign against Iran as the Middle Eastern country attempts to build nuclear weapons.

The department claimed Iran's "shadow fleet" has already transported “hundreds of millions of dollars’ worth” of petroleum and petrochemical products to foreign countries. Iran uses the money from the sales to fund its terrorist proxies and weapons programs, the Treasury Department said.

The sanctions also target nine people and companies based in Iran, Turkey and the United Arab Emirates that it believes are tied to Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and Ministry of Defense, which secured precursor materials to restore ballistic missile and ACW production capacity.

“Iran exploits financial systems to sell illicit oil, launder the proceeds, procure components for its nuclear and conventional weapons programs, and support its terrorist proxies,” Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said in a statement.

“Under President Trump’s strong leadership, Treasury will continue to put maximum pressure on Iran to target the regime’s weapons capabilities and support for terrorism, which it has prioritized over the lives of the Iranian people," he added.

The latest sanctions come as U.S. officials are expected to hold another round of nuclear talks with Iranian officials Thursday in Geneva, which will be facilitated by Oman.

The U.S. is demanding that Iran not develop or possess nuclear weapons or weapons-grade uranium.
