You Vote: Who's to blame for historically high gas prices?

President Biden this week continued to blame Russian President Vladimir Putin and the U.S. oil and gas industry for fuel prices nearing record highs for gasoline and diesel.

Meanwhile, many economists and industry insiders argue gas prices are so high because supply has failed to meet demand for a variety of reasons, such as low inventories, supply chain disruptions, workforce issues and business closures — much due to COVID-19.

The situation has gotten worse since Russia's invasion of Ukraine, but this process predated the war, with gas prices already going up before then, according to experts. Biden has blamed the high prices on the invasion, which led the U.S. and other countries to ban Russian energy imports.

Some experts argue Biden is partly to blame for pledging to end fossil fuels and hampering oil production.
