Former President Donald Trump returned to X, the platform previously known as Twitter, when his campaign posted his mugshot on Thursday.

"DONALDJTRUMP.COM," the former president wrote on social media. The post also read "ELECTION INTERFERENCE" and "NEVER SURRENDER".

Two sources close to Trump said the mugshot was posted by the campaign as part of its effort to raise money, and that Trump plans to continue posting his messages on his own platform TRUTH Social.

Trump's mugshot was taken at the Fulton County jail where he surrendered on 13 felony charges related to alleged efforts to overturn the 2020 election result in the state.

The charges include charges under the state's Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act, as well as charges of conspiracy, making false statements and soliciting a public official to violate their oath.

Trump is currently facing four indictments, with two of them being federal.

"What has taken place here is a travesty of justice," Trump said to the press shortly after his booking and release. "We did nothing wrong. I did nothing wrong."

The 45th president has his own social media platform, TRUTH Social that he often posts on. He was removed from X, then called Twitter, and his account was reinstated by current owner Elon Musk shortly after he bought the platform.

Trump's first post had a link to his campaign website for people to donate.
