UAW president calls Harris 'working class' despite her reporting millions on past tax returns
In 2019, for example, Harris and her husband Doug Emoff filed a joint tax return, reporting millions of annual taxable income
United Auto Workers President Shawn Fain described Vice President Kamala Harris as "working class" at a campaign rally on Thursday, despite her tax returns showing millions of dollars in earnings.
In 2019, Harris and her husband Doug Emoff filed a joint tax return, reporting more than $3 million of taxable income. In 2020 and 2021, the couple reported $1.6 million of taxable income. In 2022, the couple reported close to $400,000 in taxable income and in 2023, Harris and Emhoff reported more than $391,000 of taxable income.
A page from Minnesota Democratic Gov. Tim Walz's campaign website for governor, WalzFlanagan.org, contained his tax returns but it now points to KamalaHarris.com. Harris chose Walz as her running mate earlier this week.
"They're working-class people," Fain said at the rally. "That's the difference. They spent a career serving other people and fighting for other people and not forgetting where they come from. On the other side, we got what I call the Trump-Vance disaster. ... They spent their lives serving themselves representing the billionaire class and enriching themselves at the expense of the working class."
