Harvey Weinstein hospitalized with COVID-19 and pneumonia
The former producer was taken to Bellevue Hospital Prison Ward in Manhattan for treatment, according to Weinstein’s representative and prison consultant Craig Rothfeld.
Convicted Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein was hospitalized on Thursday with multiple health issues, including COVID-19 and pneumonia in both lungs, his team told NBC News.
Weinstein, whose sexual assault cases helped launch the #MeToo era, was convicted of sex offenses in California and New York, and was sentenced to 16 years in prison for the California case. He was also sentenced to 23 years in New York for rape. Although the rape conviction was overturned in April, he remains imprisoned in New York.
The former producer was taken to Bellevue Hospital Prison Ward in Manhattan for treatment, according to Weinstein’s representative and prison consultant Craig Rothfeld.
Weinstein will receive treatment for "conditions that he is still afflicted with on a daily basis such as diabetes, high blood pressure, spinal stenosis, fluid on his heart and lungs, and various other conditions," Rothfeld said. "In addition, Mr. Weinstein tested positive for COVID and contracted double pneumonia in his lungs."
The imprisoned movie mogul was also taken to the hospital in April to undergo a battery of tests related to ongoing health issues. His attorney Arthur Aidala, said Weinstein needed a "lot of help, physically" and that he was a "train wreck health wise."
