Atlanta officer who shot black man during arrest charged with felony murder

An Atlanta police officer has been charged with felony murder after shooting and killing a man who resisted arrest, stole the officer's taser and pointed it at him while fleeing.
Garrett Rolfe was fired from the Atlanta police force last week after the shooting; prosecutors brought the charges against him today. Another police officer involved in the fatal altercation has been served with three other charges, including aggravated assault.
Video circulating on social media last week showed Rayshard Brooks struggling with officers during an arrest. Officers had been called to a Wendy's restaurant where Brooks was passed out in his car; he subsequently failed a sobriety test, leading to the attempted arrest.
Both bystander and surveillance video shows Brooks fighting with the officers, eventually stealing Rolfe's taser and attempting to flee. At one point he aimed the Taser over his shoulder, apparently in an attempt to shoot Rolfe with it; Rolfe subsequently opened fire on Brooks, striking and killing him.
Atlanta's Chief of Police Erika Shields resigned following that shooting. Protests broke out following the incident, meanwhile, with rioters setting fire to the Wendy's where it occurred.
