President Trump may have asked Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to ease up on the airstrikes against Lebanon.

Citing unnamed sources, NBC News reported that Trump is hoping to improve negotiations with Iran, and Israeli strikes against the Iran-backed Hezbollah militants in Beirut could impede the talks.

There is disagreement over whether the bombings in Lebanon are covered under the ceasefire agreement. Israel and the U.S. have said they aren't, but Iran insists they are

Trump's call to Netanyahu came after the prime minister said Wednesday that Israel would continue bombing Lebanon. Iranian officials have threatened to end the ceasefire if they continue.
