Senate Judiciary to vote on Kash Patel FBI nomination on Thursday
Patel, who President Donald Trump nominated to replace former FBI Director Christopher Wray, testified in his confirmation hearing last week, where he told senators that he would bring integrity, transparency and honesty back to the FBI.
The Senate Judiciary Committee on Wednesday revealed it will vote Thursday on whether to advance Kash Patel's nomination for FBI director to a full Senate vote.
The Senate Judiciary Committee released its agenda for the next executive business meeting, which includes plans to vote on Patel's nomination. Patel is expected to be confirmed by the Republican led panel, and the GOP led chamber.
Patel, who President Donald Trump nominated to replace former FBI Director Christopher Wray, testified in his confirmation hearing last week, where he told senators that he would bring integrity, transparency and honesty back to the FBI.
Trump recently doubled-down on his support for the nominee, claiming Patel on Monday was the "one guy" who could straighten out the bureau, after Wray allegedly failed to root corruption out of the agency.
"We have to have pristine, beautiful, perfect law enforcement," Trump told reporters at the White House. "And what we want to do — Kash is the one to do it. He’s the one guy that’s gonna do it. Kash will straighten it out. We have great confidence that we can make the FBI great again.”
The committee's meeting is scheduled to begin at 10:15 a.m. Eastern, and can be streamed online.
